Hello decorating divas! I know you are often looking for ways to update and refresh your spaces but feel decor updates will be expensive or you’re overwhelmed by the prospect of starting a project. Many of us are also looking for instant results (apparently patience is a virtue but many of us are not very virtuous!). This week I am sharing 3 decor updates that you can complete this weekend – yes, you can finish 1 but all 3 are possible, trust me - without breaking the bank. Read on for tips and motivation.

Paint

Paint is one of the easiest and most economical ways to update a room. You may want to simply repaint a similar colour or would like to update to a completely different colour. If a change is in your future, you might be inspired by a colour in your sofa or throw pillows, a duvet or a colour palette from one of the paint companies. Whatever your inspiration, this update can be done in a day with little prep and can totally transform the space.

Lamp Shades

This is possibly my most fave way to brighten and refresh any room in the house. It can truly make a room look updated and make the existing lamp look brand new. Perhaps fresh white shades are your style or you are looking for a bit of drama and want to add colour to the room with patterned or coloured lamp shades. Lamp shades are available in a variety of shapes too – round, square, rectangular, tapered, oval or drum shaped. For a relatively low price, you can bring a whole new vibe and look to your space.

Declutter Displays

Many of us look externally for ways to update our spaces – everything from new furniture to new decor items, linens and more. Sometimes what our decor really needs is a good decluttering and editing. Remember that less is more and a decluttered room, whether by removal of furniture, items in a vignette, magazines, toys, books, clothes, etc., the space will instantly feel brighter, more open and calmer. The best thing about this tip is that it costs you absolutely nothing – whole new look for free :)
