Fall Decor Around the House

Fall has arrived in this part of the world and those early days of warm, sunny weather have given way to cool, damp days. (I live in hope some of those warm, sunny days show up again soon!) While we can’t ‘play’ outside, we can use the time to add fall decor touches around our homes. I have finished adding a few touches and displays to my own home and these fall styled vignettes will work well until it’s time to decorate for the holidays – my fav decorating time of the year!

In the last couple of years I have been using teal, cream and shades of blue in my decor and love that many decor and craft stores carry pumpkins, gourds and fall accessories in these colours. Of course, fall decor accessories are available in a range of colours so you will def find something that will work beautifully regardless of your style and colour palette!

I like my decor to be a bit more spare during the summer, but as the weather cools down, I make the displays fuller and more layered to bring a feeling of warmth and comfort to the rooms.

I gave the entrance way a more rustic feel with this weathered wooden box. I added in some vintage glass bottles and filled the space around them with twigs and faux botanicals including hydrangeas. The display ‘spills’ over to include the pumpkins, giving the display texture and depth and encouraging your eye to move around the vignette.

This distressed bucket with fall botanicals is perfect for tucking into a corner of any room and is easily put together using stems of varying heights, coordinating colours and textures. In mine I used blue-gray oak leaves, creamy white and blue hydrangeas, white Chinese lantern stems and some jute pumpkins.

The top of the hutch did not escape fall updates but it was simply refreshed with a contemporary blue glass pumpkin and pottery bowl with creamy white and blue hydrangeas (do you get the sense I’m kinda liking hydrangeas right now?!).

Of course, no update would be complete without throw pillows – eye roll from my ever lovin’ inserted here. I added fall themed ones to the sofa as well as the bedroom for an easy seasonal update.

A couple of weeks ago I shared the dining room updates with instructions on creating a fall themed centrepiece. Sharing the pics again in case you need inspiration for a simple update to your festive table this weekend.

I hope these updates inspire you to add some fall touches to the rooms in your home. Wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving celebration in the company of family and friends.
